Augustina has her first ever screening at the BFI
Augustina has had her first ever screening held at the BFI, London UK. It was an amazing industry event organised by Film London to showcase all 24 films who had been awarded funding through the London Calling and London Calling Plus 2014 schemes.
Between Katie, Isabel, Nuala and our production manager Sangeeta we managed to watch all 24 films and it was fantastic to see everybody’s hard work up on the big screen in front of a packed out audience of filmmakers.

As a director during the edit, you tend to only view the film with one other person, the editor. You expand the circle slightly when you send out rough cuts for funders and trusted collaborators to watch and comment on, but you rarely get to watch your film on a proper big screen with a real live audience during this process, so this first screening was very informative and nerve-wracking! You get to see if a scene or shot is slightly too long if enough people shift in their seats at that point. You can tell if humour works or (worse still) doesn’t… your heart goes in to your mouth when your film’s turn comes up and all eyes are watching a film you’ve poured a year of hard work, sweat and love in to. We were the third from last film to be screened and thankfully we couldn’t have asked for such a lovely experience and crowd reaction.
After the screening we got to chat with some of the other filmmakers and a few industry guests. We all came away feeling very positive about AUGUSTINA and were delighted to receive some truly great responses. We got to congratulate everyone on their films, such a high standard all round! What a year it has turned out to be with AUGUSTINA now standing on her own two feet out in the world!
Now after completing the rest of the visual effects and making a few edits we are in the process of organising a cast and crew screening later this November whilst also busily applying to film festivals.
